“Zero, one, two, three, four..” counted by the kid sitting beside me.
I am not sure if he’s counting the number of sways of his feet or the number of people passing in front of us. I looked at him, and he looked at me. He smiled.
“Hi,” the only word I said after smiling back.
“I have not seen you before,” he replied.
“This is my first time,” I replied, wondering why he said that.
“Oh,” he said.
He looked up, started to count from ten backward, then stopped at four.
“I will be seeing you four more times. We could be friends!” He said, then jumped out of his seat.
The door in front of us opened, the nurse called a name, then the kid and the lady accompanying him entered the room – leaving me puzzled.
