If you will be given a chance to travel now, where would you go?
Let’s have a little activity today, shall we? No deep moment, just pure fun.
Are you ready?
I want YOU to IMAGINE that YOU ARE SITTING ON A PLANE, flying out of your city and out of your country. Are you with me?
Ok here we go!
The plane has landed, any guess where we are?
I hope you already had a guess cause our destination for our first getaway is *drumroll*
JAPAN! And landed on its capital city which is – TOKYO!
Congratulations to those who guessed it right! ⭐
Since Tokyo is a big city, for this getaway, we will start by visiting a little corner of ASAKUSA district.
Now, sit back, relax and let me be your tour guide as we roam around this area.
Our first stop: Nakamise Shopping Street
I know, it is too early for window shopping, but this will lead us to Asakusa’s popular shrines and temples, so come on in!
As you might expect, there are tons of stores and I bet, whatever you need are here. Oh, can you see that store in the right? They are selling this popular transparent umbrella. I always wanted to buy one but it’s too big for my baggage, ugh!
Anyway, let’s go.
Tada! Yeah, more stores. In this area, we can find more food stalls and souvenir shops. You will love this area! There are also different kinds of bread and treats and most of them are neatly prepared. I suggest visiting the bakery on the right side when we had a chance 😉
Hey, look at this, the store doors here have graffiti on them, so going here early, while the stores are still close is the best time for a photo-shoot.
Are you ready for our second stop?
I want to WELCOME you to Japan’s oldest and one of its most significant temple: Sensoji Temple
This is not the Sensoji Temple yet – this is Hozomon Gate – the last gate to the temple.
It is such a busy day! Come on, let’s try to find our way in.
So, this is the front of the Sensoji Temple – their structure details never ceases to amaze me. Not only that – their activities, how they prepare things, their culture – it sets the mood. All you have to do, is immerse yourself.
When was the last time you saw this kind of crowd? It’s been a while..
I love hearing different languages, especially those I don’t understand. It makes me realized that I know very little; that there are many things I could still learn.
Ok, let’s move on to our third stop, which is – Sensoji Pagoda
This is a five-storied pagoda and the second highest in Japan. It was originally built in 942 AD but rebuilt as it was bombed during World War II.
Did you know why this is always closed for visitors? Do you want to know why? Well, because it is a graveyard – that’s right, a “graveyard“. You can only see it’s inside if you can prove that you have a family there and only during very specific times of the year.
Isn’t it amazing? 😎
Of course, the tour will not end without us roaming around the food shops.
There are so many food stalls in this area but I’m specifically curious about this one.
They called it “Dango”, a grilled sticky rice balls where you can choose what sauce to put in like soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, or sweet red beans. It is very popular street food that you can definitely find anywhere.
Ok, times up ❗
I know, you want to roam more, and yes, there are more on this area but since we only allotted seven minutes, we have to end this now.
Don’t worry, we will be having this every first Wednesday of the month!
Actually, this is for me to lessen the crave of travelling; will be sharing all of them to you, in the hope, that it will do the same to you, until we can roam freely – without worry.
See you on our next getaway! 😉
